Background

Barentz is a global life science distributor specializing in human nutrition, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and animal nutrition, creating unique synergies across all fields of expertise. With operations in over 60 countries and almost 2000 dedicated professionals across the world, an opportunity has arisen within our Pharma Division in the UK.

The Pharma Division has been established in the UK since 1981, formerly as Forum Products Ltd until it joined Barentz and is now the driving force behind the Group’s Pharma Division. With long-term partnerships with prestige manufacturers from across the globe, Barentz Pharmaceuticals is able to supply an enviable range of the ingredients required to produce pharmaceutical brands, generics, OTC products, medical devices and nutraceuticals. These include both standard and premium grade excipients, specialty excipients, nutraceuticals APIs and pharmaceutical intermediates

The Role

A role has arisen for an experienced Sales Manager to cover the UK market. The role will have the responsibility to manage an existing customer base within the Pharma sector as well as grow the business with new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage existing customer accounts to achieve targeted annual sales budgets for a range of raw materials and pharmaceutical ingredients including excipients, APIs, and nutraceutical ingredients.
  • Actively build a pipeline of projects aligning the strategic advantages of key suppliers with current and potential customers.
  • Actively manage projects through the pipeline to commercialisation.
  • Achieve and foster beneficial customer relationships by making frequent customer and prospect visits to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturing companies, including CMOs and CDMOs.
  • Organise technical presentations with the support of the Divisional Technical Director.
  • Obtain marketing information on specific product groups when required.
  • Ensure effective communication lines with our suppliers and Barentz internal management is maintained (including reports, sales figures, market information, product development etc).
  • Add sales and new project information to Customer Relationship Management software.
  • To actively participate in local and international exhibitions as required.

About You

Candidate Qualifications and Experience

  • An experienced sales/ technical executive (5+ years) with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical ingredients market, especially excipients and APIs.
  • Knowledgeable and well-networked across the UK pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and contract development organizations.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical formulation development pipeline.
  • Good technical understanding of industry manufacturing processes, formulation compositions, and dosage form design.
  • Strong business acumen and B2B experience in developing and growing new businesses including onboarding of new suppliers and expansion of product portfolio.
  • Able to analyze the market, and conduct marketing assessments and sales planning.

  • Proactive and self-driven with strong time management skills.
  • Able to work independently under remote management.
