About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GL Accountant to join our dynamic finance team at Barentz. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the integrity and accuracy of our financial processes and reports, supporting the organization’s success with reliable financial insights and ensuring compliance with global accounting standards and regulations. You’ll also play a key role in decision-making by providing expertise on complex accounting and reporting matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger of relevant Barentz Holding entities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
  • Perform monthly and annual closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, intercompany, and VAT reconciliations.
  • Prepare timely, accurate financial statements and reports for key stakeholders.
  • Play an active role in the annual financial audit process, collaborating with external auditors.
  • Support annual budget cycles, corporate treasury processes, and M&A accounting alongside Group Control and Finance teams.
  • Drive continuous improvements across financial systems and reporting processes.
  • Uphold strict adherence to financial laws and regulations, including tax policies and reporting standards.

  • Deliver reliable financial reporting that supports informed management decisions.
  • Maintain, adapt, and refine operational accounting processes to ensure timely reporting and foster ongoing improvement.

About you

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (HOFAM or advanced qualifications are a plus).
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Familiarity with MS Dynamics is a strong advantage.

Skills/profile:

  • Proven expertise in financial systems, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial laws, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a knack for tackling complex challenges.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across various functions and levels.
